What is the difference between a load switch and a circuit breaker?

2022 03/17

The load switch can interrupt the normal working current and short-circuit current. Schneider's load switch cabinet SM6 can interrupt the normal working current about 200 times and the short-circuit current about 20 times. The high-voltage circuit breaker can generally open and close the normal current of about 10,000 times, and the short-circuit current is also dozens of times (usually 20 to 50 times). But the high-voltage circuit breaker is more expensive. Current load switches can be operated electrically, that is, they can have trip and close coils. Therefore, circuit breakers are generally used in places where frequent disconnection is required, and load switches are generally used in places where frequent disconnection is not required.
